Eight 4 World Hope’s mission is to give hope to the voiceless, one community at a time, by providing a safe, stable, learning environment that fosters long-term opportunity for individuals and families.Since its founding in 2010, Eight 4 World Hope has raised and invested over $250,000 into six schools in Jamaica that currently served 1700 children each year. If not for our efforts many of these children would not be receiving any education thus making it far more difficult to escape the grips of the severe poverty they were born into.Eight 4 world Hope’s current project is the Davis Primary School in Old Harbor Jamaica. The school was built in 1973 for 200 children, but due to school closures in the area and the growth of the community, now over 730 students attend the school, with an additional 200 waiting to get in.In 2014, due to severe disrepair and health concerns for the children, the Ministry of Education was on the verge of ordering the school closed. The country of Jamaica is in poor financial condition and cannot repair their schools, so they are closed to prevent children from being injured at the old buildings.Eight 4 World Hope has committed $155,000 to fix, repair and expand the current school to hold 1000 students. Currently classrooms are divided by only chalkboards to allow more classes in the cramped rooms. To date Eight 4 World Hope has invested over $94,000 and built 2 new building facilities holding 6 classrooms as well as repair the current facility. It is through education that we can help people lift themselves out of poverty to a better life, but we have to ensure they get the education they need. Together we can keep schools open and better the lives of literally thousands of people for many years to come.
